When you bring home a pet, no matter what kind it is, you have to give it a name to make it part of your family. You do have to spend time thinking about suitable names that match the pet itself and its personality. While a cute baby name is nice for it when it is young, it may not suit the pet when it is grown. Choose a name that will suit it at any age.
There is nothing wrong with using male and female names for your pet. However, you do have to exercise caution here too. You wouldn't want to insult a friend by giving his/her name to your pet because it could give the impression that you are comparing this person to an animal. While you may think that naming a pet is a very simple chore, it is one to which you have to give considerable consideration.
